Noel Thomson Architecture is a locally owned, family operated contemporary firm who manage commercial, institutional and heritage projects across the Riverina and NSW. 

Our professional team has been involved in countless large- & small-scale projects ranging from Commercial, Educational, Aged Care, Industrial fit outs to Institutional and Residential projects. Since establishing his practice in Wagga Wagga, Noel Thomson and his expert team have also expanded into Heritage Consultancy, particularly in relation to sympathetic heritage restorations and renovations to heritage listed properties and buildings in Conservation areas.

We apply our imagination & vision for the resolution of relevant Building Code issues and best planning practices. The aim is to produce a solution that is energy efficient, cost effective and complies with the client brief, offers an invigorating environment and suits everyday needs.

Noel Thomson 

Director

Noel Thomson is the Director of NTA is a Registered Architect with 32 years experience. Noel has a Diploma of Architecture 1984 - Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. In a career spanning many decades, Noel has worked with award winning architectural firms in Melbourne and assisted numerous other architects to achieve 'state of the art' building designs for the fabulous Wagga Wagga Civic Centre, the Oasis Regional Aquatic Centre, The School of Dentistry, Charles Sturt University (Wagga Wagga campus) and the soon to be completed Abbeyfeild Project (2019). Noel’s belief is that successful architecture is not just the ‘designing’ of spaces and buildings but revolves around the construction and management of projects. Noel’s lifelong passion for sketching and photographing ‘heritage’ buildings has led him to combine his passion with work, completing his Heritage Advisor Course conducted by NSW Heritage Office in 2002 and being appointed heritage advisor for several local councils within the Riverina including Tumut (2001), Junee (2003), Leeton, Narrandera, Murray & Deniliquin (2004) and Coolamon (2012) as well as providing advice over the years to Lockhart , Tumbarumba, Cootamundra, Gundagai and Conargo Shires on heritage matters. Noel has advised on many significant heritage buildings, including the Gundagai Gaol, St John’s Anglican Church Wagga, St David’s Uniting Church, Albury and the Sir George Stable ruins in Jugiong, NSW. Accredited, Architects Accreditation Council of Australia.

Claire

Claire completed her Bachelor of Arts majoring in Museum Studies from Macquarie University in 2014. Throughout her degree, Claire began working at the Museum of the Riverina . In 2013, Claire was awarded the Powerhouse Museum’s Movable Heritage Fellowship for research and creation of a significance assessment on the Charlie Wong Hing Collection donated by the late Wendy Hucker, and a public program on the lasting impact of Chinese immigration to the Riverina and Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area. After a career detour into the Employment Services Industry and motherhood, Claire is once again utilizing her degree working for NTA as a Heritage Researcher and Office Manager. Claire attended and completed the Longford Academy 2024 "Introduction to Practical Building Conservation" course in Tasmania.
